Improving musculoskeletal services in Camden (Patient survey '15)

Overview

What are musculoskeletal services and pathways?

Musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders describe a variety of conditions that affect the muscles, bones and joints in many different parts of the body. Musculoskeletal services include trauma, orthopaedics, rheumatology, and pain management, as well as rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy, podiatry and orthotics.

People who would benefit from MSK services are considered to be on a ‘pathway’ of care through the system. This works better for some people than others and sometimes the links between services could be improved.

What are our plans?

Camden CCG has a vision for MSK services that work well together across Camden. The overall objective of the project is to work in partnership with GPs and local acute and community service providers to enable delivery of the best safe and effective musculoskeletal patient pathways which improve patient care and experience. We are aiming to treat all patients in the right place, by the right person at the right time.

We intend to take an outcomes-based commissioning approach to this particular project. We aim to ensure what matters most to patients is at the centre of musculoskeletal service delivery in Camden.

Why your views matter

Patients and carers’ experience and opinions are integral to the improvement of these services, and we will use these to inform this work. If you have received treatment for any muscle, bone or joint problems in Camden we would welcome your participation.

Your first-hand experience will be shared with our MSK lead at each stage of the project. The involvement of both the patient and professional groups will inform the development of services to achieve the best clinical and patient experience outcomes. This is why your involvement is so valuable. By taking part in this survey you consent for us to use this information to help improve services.

Your information will be kept anonymous and personal details stored securely.

How will we feed back?

Once we have collected and analysed the results of this survey, we will feed back the results to you through this website or to you personally if you decide to provide your contact details. There will also be opportunities for you to be involved on an ongoing basis if you would like to.
